Jim’s Big Save!

Meet Jim

Jim the huntaway came in after his owners noticed he was unusually quiet and his gums looked very pale. Tests confirmed our worry — he’d likely eaten rat bait, which stops the body from clotting and can cause serious internal bleeding.

The Diagnosis

Jim was severely anaemic, so along with starting Vitamin K, he needed an urgent blood transfusion to save his life. Wonderful donor dog, Molly, stepped up, and after a 2-hour transfusion his levels slowly began to rise.

Within 24 hours Jim was brighter, and after 3 weeks of Vitamin K and strict rest, he’s now had his final check-up.

The Healing Process

We’re thrilled to say he’s back to normal! After much love and care Jim returned back to his normal self and is back being the loving Huntaway he is!

Go well, Jim — you’ve been a superstar patient! 🐶
