Veterinary Surgeons

  • Sarah is one of the owners of Builth Vets. She qualified from Liverpool vet school in 2011 and moved to the area to pursue a mixed animal job. Sarah enjoys all aspects of mixed practice and has a keen interest in reproduction across all species, particularly in horses and cattle. Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her two young boys and husband. She is also kept busy with her small herd of broodmares.

  • Eve is one of the owners of Builth Vets. She qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012. Eve moved to the local area after she qualified and has always worked in mixed practice. Eve is passionate about all aspects of small animal practice, with a keen interest in medicine and anaesthesia. She also enjoys large animal practice, especially lambing.

    Outside of work Eve enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys. She also enjoys spending time in the garden but finds she has less spare time these days!

  • Nicola qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1988 and has worked in Builth Wells since 2006. She enjoys all aspects of mixed practice.

    Nicola is married to Mark, a carer, and they have two daughters, Ceri who is a jeweller, and Ellie who starts vet school next March.

    Nicola has 2 dogs, 3 cats, a rabbit and a parrot. Outside of work she enjoys caring for her pets, walking her dogs, going to church, travelling, climbing and reading.

  • Maddie has been a part of the vet team since the opening of Builth Vets in October 2020, she has played an integral part in developing the large animal side of the practice. Maddie qualified from the RVC in 2009 and worked in the local area as a mixed animal vet. She then went on to complete a soft tissue certificate in small animal practice and worked for the PDSA for a number of years. Out of the work place Maddie enjoys working her dogs and socialising with her friends.

  • Katie qualified from Glasgow University in 1991, being particularly keen on mixed animal practice, Katie has worked in Wales for 27 years and counting. Her passions lie in surgery and orthopaedics.

    In Katie’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her children and many animals both large and small

  • Laura joined the team after qualifying from the University of Liverpool. She loves working with all species and is particularly interested in equine work, especially reproduction and lameness investigations. Outside of work she spends her free time walking her black Labrador, Bobby, who loves playing with the other staff dogs at the practice, and riding her horse Chess. Laura loves meeting our clients and their lovely animals.

  • Introducing Meg. Growing up in Malvern, Meg graduated from Surrey Vet school in July 2023. After honing her skills for 5 years in Guildford, she's excited to return closer to home and join our busy rural mixed practice.

    Away from work, she enjoys being outside and active, particularly playing netball and horse riding, hiking, and travelling to new places.

 

Veterinary Nurses

 
  • Josie is one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN). She qualified in 2016 and did her training at Harper Adams. She worked as a nurse in Hereford for four years before she joined our team and it feels like she has always been with us. Josie enjoys x-rays and nursing clinics.

    Her home life is spent with her partner, her rescue dog Pippa who is a little angel and her two pet sheep.

  • Born and bred locally Rhian grew up surrounded by animals and always new she wanted to pursue a career with animals and decided that veterinary nursing was the ideal choice for her.

    Rhian owns 3 horses and regularly attends competitions she also has a sausage dog called Lola who is quite the character around the practice.

  • Karen joined Builth Vets in September 2022, but has been working in the veterinary sector for 18 years and a qualified animal nursing assistant (ANA) for 7 years.

    Her favourite aspect of her job is caring for our inpatients and Karen particularly enjoys assisting the vets with their equine work.

    Karen loves animals - She has several pets of her own, large and small!

  • Hayley is one of our RVN’s (registered Veterinary Nurse) and qualified from Hartpury College in 2016.

    Hayley has several years of veterinary nursing under her belt, including time spent in Vancouver Canada as a Vet Tech at an emergency animal hospital. In practice she enjoys diagnostic imaging and patient care.

    Outside of work Hayley loves to travel and go hiking with her cocker spaniel Brodie.

Hydrotherapy & Physiotherapy

  • Renata joined Builth Vets in March 2022, she has Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and Animal care. Ren has been practising hydrotherapy since 2016 with great passion for conservative management and rehabilitation.

    Ren is passionate about rehabilitation of all patients, especially nervous and fearful pets. Ren is able to use her calming presence and experience to help aid these animals through their rehabilitation.

    Ren thoroughly enjoys living in this beautiful part of the world with her three dogs and two cats.

  • Rebecca Boarer is one of our new team members who will be offering physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

    Rebecca gained her BSc(Hons) veterinary physiotherapy qualification in 2022 and since then has been working in local veterinary practices and as a physiotherapist at Petffiso in Carmarthen where she still works part of the week. Becca enjoys all aspects of her job, but particularly enjoys working with Neurological cases and older dogs helping them with pain management and mobility.

    Outside of work, Becca likes to bake, find new and exciting outdoor activities to do and of course walk her much-loved Whippet Arrow and her cheeky little Dachshund x Jack Russel Bella with her partner Ryan. Of course, It’s also really nice to come home to a nice big cup of tea in front of the fire with a warm welcome from her very sassy Bengal cat Smouse.

 

Veterinary Administration

  • Lindsay has worked at the practice for 11 years and has naturally progressed into her current role as Practice Manager.

    Having been a keen sportswoman all her life she brought a strong emphasis of team mentality to the the practice, which is essential for the daily running of a busy vets.

    Out of work Lindsay can be seen escaping in her beautiful campervan, with mountain bike in tow, pursuing adventure.

  • Gail has worked at the vets for the best part of a decade and is one of our receptionists. Gail is excellent at putting a smile on everyone’s face both clients and staff alike.

    Born and breed in the local village of Newbridge Gail enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, family and friends. Gail is incredibly proud of her daughter whom is currently finishing a degree in nursing.

    Gail’s hobbies include, walking, hiking and having a pint in the local pub! Gail loves sun holidays and like many of us she can not wait to be able to get back on a plane and jet off somewhere hot!

 
  • Jacqui is a qualified RSQP which means she is able to support the vets by offering advice and prescribing certain animal medicines, usually regarding worming and parasite treatments for farm, equine and companion animals.

    Jacqui has lived locally for the last 14 years and many of you will know her from CCF Rhayader.

    Jacqui loves her pets and has horses, dogs and a number of sheep, goats and cattle, she has several standardbred horses which she enjoys riding and racing.

    Jacqui loves spending time with her husband Andrew, daughter Rachel and their many animals.

  • Rachael has lived in the area all her life, she has three children and previous to working at the vets Rachael worked for 20 years with her partner breaking, schooling and producing welsh cobs for show production. Rachael has a passion for King Charles Spaniels as well as other dog breeds and horses. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her busy toddler, family and many animals.
