Veterinary Surgeons

Sarah is one of the owners of Builth Vets. She qualified from Liverpool vet school in 2011 and moved to the area to pursue a mixed animal job. Sarah enjoys all aspects of mixed practice and has a keen interest in reproduction across all species, particularly in horses and cattle. Outside of work Sarah enjoys spending time with her two young boys and husband. She is also kept busy with her small herd of broodmares.

Eve is one of the owners of Builth Vets. She qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012. Eve moved to the local area after she qualified and has always worked in mixed practice. Eve is passionate about all aspects of small animal practice, with a keen interest in medicine and anaesthesia. She also enjoys large animal practice, especially lambing.
Outside of work Eve enjoys spending time with her husband and two young boys. She also enjoys spending time in the garden but finds she has less spare time these days!

Katie qualified from Glasgow University in 1991, being particularly keen on mixed animal practice, Katie has worked in Wales for 27 years and counting. Her passions lie in surgery and orthopaedics.
In Katie’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her children and many animals both large and small

Nicola qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1988 and has worked in Builth Wells since 2006. She enjoys all aspects of mixed practice.
Nicola is married to Mark, a carer, and they have two daughters, Ceri who is a jeweller, and Ellie who is studying to be a vet.
Nicola has 4 dogs, a cat and a parrot. Outside of work she enjoys walking her dogs, going to church, travelling, climbing and reading.

Originally from France, Adele grew up in Singapore before moving to England to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Nottingham. She is excited to work with all species and has a particular interest in equine dentistry, internal medicine, and large animal surgery.
Outside of work, Adele enjoys playing and watching rugby (especially when supporting France!) as well as weightlifting at the gym. She also loves spending time with her retired showjumper, Mr Sheen.
We’re delighted to have Adele join the team and look forward to introducing her to all our clients and their pets.

Introducing Sophie! Sophie graduated from Surrey Vet School and started her career at a mixed practice in Cornwall. She’s now excited to embark on a new adventure with us here in Wales! Sophie loves performing surgeries and meeting new people during her countryside calls. With a special passion for large animals, she’s currently completing a farm animal graduate program to further her skills and support our farm clients.

When she's not working, Sophie enjoys wild swimming on the Cornish coast or relaxing by drawing animal portraits and spending time with her rescue dog Fen and golden oldie Roobie!

Emily graduated from Liverpool University and is now beginning her veterinary career with us back home in Wales. Some of you may already recognise her — she spent time with us during her university placement, and we’re thrilled to now welcome her as a full-time member of the team!
Emily works across all areas of the practice. With a particular passion for equine work and a strong interest in large animals, she’s excited to develop her skills and get to know our clients.
Outside of work, Emily enjoys looking after her own Welsh Cobs.

A farmer’s daughter from the Black Mountains, Charlotte grew up surrounded by pedigree Texels and Limousins, and now lives with her husband and their daughter on his family farm in Boughrood.

Charlotte has been working in Herefordshire for the last 8 and a half years, where she gained vast experience in all farm species.

She particularly likes to be proactive and prevent health issues, working with clients to increase business profitability.

A keen interest in fertility, Charlotte has also recently completed a Masters in Bovine Reproduction, further strengthening the expertise she brings to our clients.

Approved Tuberculin Testers

Katey is our ATT (Approved Tuberculin Tester), and many of you may already have met her on farm during TB testing. Katey is enjoying getting out and about to see clients on farm.
She has had a lifelong passion for working with animals, both large and small. Living locally, Katey enjoys spending time with her family on their farm.
When she’s not at work, you’ll often find her showing commercial beef cattle at summer and winter shows, catching up with friends, or spending time with her three dogs and her horse.
You’ll regularly see Katey out on farm, and she looks forward to continuing to meet more of you..

Veterinary Nurses

Josie is one of our Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVN), having qualified in 2016 after completing her training at Harper Adams University. She spent four years working in Hereford before joining our team. Josie has a particular interest in radiography and nursing clinics, where her calm and caring nature really shines.
Outside of work, Josie enjoys a lively home life with her partner, her son Ollie, two beloved rescue dogs Pippa and Molly and a flock of eight pet sheep who keep her on her toes!

Born and raised locally, Rhian has always had an interest in working with animals. She started in Builth Vets in 2021 and went on to complete her nurse training. Rhian qualified as a registered vet nurse in December 2023.
Outside of work, Rhian enjoys spending time and walking with her sausage dog, Lola. Playing hockey and travelling.

Catherine is originally from Edinburgh and studied Veterinary Nursing at Harper Adams University before spending a year in New Zealand dairy farming and lambing — where she met her partner! After her travels, Catherine made the move to Wales and has now joined our team.
Catherine brings a wealth of experience in nurse clinics and is passionate about providing top-quality care for all our patients.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys baking and spending time walking her spaniel, Spud.

Meg has lived in the area all her life; she has three dogs Ralph, Rosie, Leonard and a cat named Doris. She has a keen interest in all things animal related! Since joining us in July 2024 on reception, Meg has now started her journey in veterinary nursing here with us as a student nurse!
Away from work Meg enjoys spending time with her husband and pets. Meg’s hobbies include dog training and gardening.

Karen joined Builth Vets in September 2022, but has been working in the veterinary sector for 18 years and a qualified animal nursing assistant (ANA) for 7 years.
Her favourite aspect of her job is caring for our inpatients and Karen particularly enjoys assisting the vets with their equine work.
Karen loves animals - She has several pets of her own, large and small!

Hayley is one of our RVN’s (Registered Veterinary Nurse) and qualified from Hartpury College in 2016.
Hayley has several years of veterinary nursing under her belt, including time spent in Vancouver Canada as a Vet Tech at an emergency animal hospital. In practice she enjoys diagnostic imaging and patient care.
Outside of work Hayley loves to travel and go hiking with her cocker spaniel Brodie.

Hydrotherapy & Physiotherapy

Renata joined Builth Vets in March 2022, she has Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and Animal care. Ren has been practising hydrotherapy since 2016 with great passion for conservative management and rehabilitation.
Ren is passionate about rehabilitation of all patients, especially nervous and fearful pets. Ren is able to use her calming presence and experience to help aid these animals through their rehabilitation.
Ren thoroughly enjoys living in this beautiful part of the world with her three dogs and two cats.

Becca is a valued member of our team, offering both physiotherapy and hydrotherapy services while also training as a Student Veterinary Nurse. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Physiotherapy in 2022 and has since gained hands-on experience across local practices.
Becca has a particular interest in neurological cases and enjoys supporting older dogs through pain management and mobility work. Her calm, compassionate nature and dedication to animal care are evident in everything she does.
Outside of work, Becca enjoys baking, exploring the outdoors, and spending time with her partner Ryan and their two dogs—Arrow, a graceful Whippet, and Bella, a cheeky Dachshund-Jack Russell cross. Evenings are best spent with a cup of tea by the fire, usually in the company of Smouse, her wonderfully sassy Bengal cat.

Veterinary Administration

Gail has worked at the vets for the best part of a decade and is one of our receptionists. Gail is excellent at putting a smile on everyone’s face both clients and staff alike.
Born and breed in the local village of Newbridge. Gail enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, family and friends. Gail is incredibly proud of her daughter who is a qualified nurse.
Gail’s hobbies include, walking, hiking and having a pint in the local pub! Gail loves sun holidays!

Rachael has lived in the area all her life, she has three children and previous to working at the vets Rachael worked for 20 years with her partner breaking, schooling and producing welsh cobs for show production.
Rachael has a passion for King Charles Spaniels as well as other dog breeds and horses. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her busy toddler, family and many animals.

Rhian grew up locally on a farm in Beulah and has always had a passion for large animals, especially horses and sheep. Alongside her husband and son, she breeds and shows Welsh Section C ponies as well as pedigree Beltex and Blue Texel sheep.
Her strong background in farming and livestock gives her a wealth of hands-on experience, making her a brilliant addition to our team here at Builth Vets. She has already hit the ground running and we’re excited to have her on board!

Tegan has lived in the area all her life and before joining our team she had just completed her A Levels. She has a strong passion for the use of social media in professional development.
Outside of work Tegan likes to relax at home with her partner, family and puppy Karma. She enjoys exploring new countries and their cultures!

Sophie joined us in May 2025. After relocating to the area a few years ago, she most recently worked in the agricultural apprenticeship sector.

Growing up on a farm, Sophie has always had a passion for animals, which she now combines with her strong organisational skills in this role. Her rural background and professional experience make her a fantastic addition to our busy mixed practice. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with her young family and is a keen equestrian — regularly riding and competing her horses.
